Pickleball League Rules at Centrum Sportów Spokojna in Tarnów
Pickleball - rules.
Schedule
The league is scheduled to run from October to May, with a regular season followed by play-offs.
There will be four rounds of group matches. The eight qualifying players will then compete in the knockout stage.
Groups
All participants are divided into groups. The number of groups and participants will be arranged so that each group has six to eight players wherever possible.
Before the competition begins, players will be allocated to groups using a method that takes their results in previous league competitions into account. New players will be added in alphabetical order.
After rounds 1-3, the top two players in each group move up to the next group, except in the highest group. The bottom two move down to the next group, except in the lowest group.
In each group-stage round, each player plays one match against every other player in their group. Players should contact one another to arrange a time. If a match cannot take place at the agreed time, players may arrange another mutually convenient time, but it must fall within the two-month period allocated for the round.
The match result is recorded on the designated form. Points are awarded for each match as follows:
| Player A's games | Player B's games | Player A's points | Player B's points | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 0 | 3 | 1 | |
| 2 | 1 | 3 | 2 |
A player who completes every match in a round receives two bonus points. Wins by walkover count as completed matches for this purpose.
If a player refuses to arrange a match without suggesting another possible time, the player who initiated contact wins by walkover and receives three points. The player who refused receives zero points.
If a player withdraws during a round: if they have played more than half their matches, the remaining matches are lost by walkover; if they have not played half their matches, the completed results are cancelled and all matches are lost by walkover.
A player's position in their group for a round is based solely on points earned in that round.
Knockout stage
The order of players entering the knockout stage is based on group order: Group A players first in their group order, followed by Group B players in their group order, and so on.
The top eight players from the group stage qualify for the knockout stage. If the eighth-placed player is tied on points with the player or players below, qualification is decided by a match or matches between them.
Once the qualifiers are known, players are paired first against last, second against second-last, and so on. In subsequent rounds, the winner of the first pairing faces the winner of the last pairing, the second faces the second-last, and so on. This continues until one player remains and becomes league champion. The players eliminated in the preceding round may play a match to decide third and fourth place.
Playing a match
Matches are played as best of three games.
Players book a court for one hour. If the match finishes earlier, they may use the court for the remainder of the booked time.
Games are played to 21 points with a lead of at least two points required. At 29-29, the player who scores the 30th point wins.
Only matches played at Centrum Sportów Spokojna count towards the league standings. If there are reasonable grounds to suspect that a submitted result does not come from a match played at our venue, it may be removed and the players will be notified. Players entering results themselves should inform reception that they have played a league match and identify both players. This helps avoid unnecessary uncertainty.
Please note!
If a player expects to be unable to play at least half the matches in a round, they should notify the league organisers, for example due to health issues or travel. If they do not report this, or the reason is not considered sufficient, and they fail to play at least half their matches, the organiser may refuse their participation in future rounds or seasons.
